What is Los Sheboyganeros?
- a team of creative people that creates public art, which embraces collaboration, contemporary practice and making art accessible to the Sheboygan community.
- public art based off of a mutually agreed upon idea to be executed through each person’s expertise in a chosen medium/field
- a group that enjoys the process of making art, having a good ol’ time and being invested in the Sheboygan community.
What are the objectives of Los Sheboyganeros?
- make public art accessible to the Sheboygan Community, which is free to observe and there are no class or social barriers.
- to enhance public spaces, making them more attractive, and encourage people to experience and enjoy it.
- involve the viewer in interpreting and understanding the public art.
- create diverse professional development opportunities for artists, fabricators and associated professional, which adds value to the built public art.
How is this project going to get funded?
- the 2012 pilot season will be funded by EFFJAY PROJEKTS
- with the collaboration of EFFJAY PROJEKTS and Highland House (Dennis Radtke) we will look at options to present to the city to assist in funding this project.
Where will these public art pieces be installed?
- they will be installed on the property of the Highland House, located at 820 Indiana Avenue in Sheboygan.
How long with these public art pieces be up?
- they will be installed for the duration of one-year with the intent of replacing them with new public art pieces.
Where will the replaced public art pieces go?
- the idea is to locate other public spaces to install them.
When will these public art pieces be installed for the community to see?
- June 1, 2012
